Garage Door Closes To Sensors And Reverses
A garage door that keeps reversing when you attempt to close it with the opener might have a simple problem or a major issue that requires a service professional.
Garage door closes to sensors and reverses. You push the button to close the garage door. The photo eyes send an infrared beam across the bottom of your garage door opening if that beam is broken the door will reverse. If an object person or animal blocks the beam the closing door reverses direction. It goes partway down reverses direction and goes back up again.
While holding the sensors close together and facing each othe click the remote. If the door doesn t close and the lights don t blink replace the safety sensors. Make sure the eye is aligned with the reflector at the opposite side or else the door won t close properly. The garage door opener has several safety sensors photo eyes in place to prevent damage or injury should something obstruct the door as it is closing.
Photo eyes or safety sensors are mounted to the track on either side of the garage door about 6 inches up from the ground. Clean and adjust the photoelectric eye which also reverses the garage door. This is almost always the result of a dirty or obstructed safety feature.
